Family and Behavior Coaching is intended to give clients fresh approaches to addressing behavior and interpersonal challenges in their homes. My methods are based on the experience I have supporting students in a public school setting and do not require any kind of diagnosis to implement. I am not licensed or qualified to diagnose, treat, or cure any mental or physical disorders or illnesses. I also do not provide counseling or any type of medical services. Coaching can be a great support for families in addition to receiving care from licensed professionals when therapeutic or medical care is needed.
Therapy (which is a very broad term) can be received only from a professional who is clinically or medically certified. These professionals have the certification and licensing required to diagnose and/or provide treatment for a variety of mental and physical disorders and diseases.
I have updated my business name to "Wilson Coaching" (previously "Family and Behavior Coaching") to better represent what I do as a coach. I coach families and individuals in ways to build their confidence and skills in areas like family life, behavior management, social skills and personal empowerment.
Anyone can use skills in emotional regulation, interpersonal communication and setting positive boundaries to create positive change in their life. I'm here for you, so let's get those changes started together!
I am located in Bettendorf, Iowa and I mainly serve the Bettendorf, Le Claire, and Davenport areas. I can support customers outside those areas through video meetings.
I work primarily with families. Preschool-aged children to teenagers, and the adults who support them at home, are the people my experience will benefit most. Parenting is tough, being a kid is tough, and there are ways of approaching situations and emotions that can help!
Do you have a perfect family with perfect kids who always behave no matter what happens? If you do, then nope! :)
Do your kids frequently argue with adults or other kids? Then yes!
Do your kids refuse to follow rules they don't like? Then yes!
Do you end up yelling at your kids because you've told them to do something multiple times and they've ignored you? Then yes!
Do you feel like you're at a loss for how to help your family get along? Then yes!
Do your kids have frequent meltdowns or less-frequent, really big meltdowns? Then yes!
Do your kids refuse to cooperate or try to be sneaky about not following rules? Then yes!
Do your kids seem to lack social skills that most other kids their age seem to have? Then yes!
Do your kids get in trouble at school regularly or have a tough time getting along with others? Then yes!
Do your kids say or do hurtful things when they're upset? Then yes!
Do you feel like your home is more stressful than peaceful? Then yes!
If your situation doesn't sound like these, but you think coaching might still be good for your family, send me a message and we'll talk!
Because I am not a medical professional or counselor, I cannot bill through medical insurance. I can, however, match the co-pay rate your insurance has you pay to see an in-network specialist in most cases. If this is something that would help you, please let me know and we'll work out the details!
Your first session is just $35 - a 30% discount!
After that, I typically charge $50 per session. That fee includes one hour of in-person coaching, 30 minutes of troubleshooting and support between sessions, and any additional materials I provide (these vary based on your needs). We will craft a plan that meets your needs and budget though - see insurance co-pay matching above!
Please note that most clients need 8 - 12 sessions to get the most benefit from my services, but I offer a 10% discount for clients who pay for multiple sessions up front!
First, my focus on children, families and disruptive behavior is not something you will find with every life coach. Second, my background working in the public school system has given me first-hand experience with exactly how chaos at home can follow kids into school and other spaces outside the home. Finally, my training and experience in both proactive and reactive behavior support have given me tried and true approaches that I can share with families to prevent disruptive behavior and work through things in a more peaceful way when things erupt.
